For many Black immigrants, arriving in the United States means encountering “race” in a new and often disorienting way.
What does it mean to become Black in America — to move from a national or ethnic identity into a racialized one shaped by anti-Blackness, politics, and resistance?
This webinar explores that complex journey and how it shapes belonging, solidarity, and political agency within the broader Black community. Through personal narratives and dialogue among African American and Black immigrant women leaders, we’ll unpack how anti-Blackness and structural racism inform identity formation, and how both groups can collaborate toward shared liberation.
The conversation will also highlight ways African Americans can intentionally create space for immigrant perspectives, leadership, and partnership within existing civic and political movements—ensuring that the collective pursuit of justice reflects the full breadth of the African diaspora.
