Behavioral health and wellness is important for individuals of all ages. It is okay to ask for help or information for yourself or your family. Sadness, anxiety, worry, changes in appetite, behavior or thoughts can be scary or confusing. There is help available.


Sacramento County, Behavioral Health Services provides mental health and substance use, prevention and treatment services that promote recovery, optimum health, and resiliency. Our mental health services include individual and group counseling / therapy, medication management for mental health conditions, case management and more. Our substance use services include medication-assisted treatment, withdrawal management (detoxification), residential treatment, perinatal services, sober living environments/recovery residences, and more. We have staff members who speak different languages, and we also use trained interpreters (over-the-phone and in person).


If you are experiencing a behavioral health crisis, please call or text 988. There is no crisis that is too big or too small. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911.


Behavioral Health Services-Screening and Coordination (BHS-SAC) is our call center that will link you to services for your mental health and substance use treatment needs. They use interpreters so that they can communicate with you in your language if needed. Their phone number is (916) 875-1055 or toll free (888) 881-488.


Our Community Support Team (CST) has counselors and peer specialists who can come to your home or other place in the community and help connect you with services. Their hours are Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.  If they would like their services, please call 916-874-6015.


If you or a loved one have an immediate mental health and/or co-occurring substance abuse need and are thinking about using an emergency room, the Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic (MHUCC) is a resource with a team of peers, clinicians, and medical staff who can help in a calm and supportive environment. They provide services on a walk-in basis for all ages. Their address is 2130 Stockton Boulevard, Building 300, Sacramento, CA 95817, and their phone number is (916) 520-2460.
